Family accommodation

The University recognises that some students require accommodation for their families and it has a limited number of family flats available for rent. The cost varies, depending on the size and location of the flat.

Facilities

Flats vary in size, consisting of one or two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. All the flats are fully furnished, and bedding, crockery, cutlery and pots and pans are provided.

Currently there are 3/4 bedroom flats available at Lister House.  There is also some 3 bedroom flats at Student Apartments. 

Locations

Flats are available in several parts of the city. Presently we have flats in Kelvindale, Partick, Thornwood, Yorkhill, and some around the University Campus itself. All flats are either within walking distance or are located close to an Underground station.

Privately Owned Properties leased to the University (Subleased Flats)

Our portfolio of family accommodation consists mainly of traditional tenement flats in the West End of Glasgow, mostly within walking distance of the campus. The flats consist of either one or two bedrooms plus living room, kitchen and bathroom and come fully furnished including cutlery, crockery and bed linen.

University Owned Property

There are a small number of flats owned by the University situated in the surrounding area. The accommodation consists of either one or two rooms, kitchen and bathroom and would suit either couples or couples with one child. The flats are fully furnished and include crockery, cutlery and bed linen.

Council Tax

Students are not liable for Council Tax if they live alone, or if all those staying in the property are full time students. However, if you are accompanied by a non-student partner you will probably be liable for Council Tax. To apply for Council Tax exemption you must obtain a student certificate from the University Registrar and send the original to the City Council and also provide Residential Services with a copy.
