About Researcher Development

The Researcher Development Programme at Glasgow is coordinated by the VP Office (Research and Enterprise), using the 'Roberts' funding that we receive from the Research Councils. Faculties also receive these funds and have developed training programmes to meet the needs of their own researchers.

All of our courses aim to cover specific areas of the Research Councils’ Joint Skills Statement.  It is reccommended that researchers should take part in two weeks of transferable skills training a year.  This refers to skills that are non-subject specific, as laid out in B-G of the Joint Skills Statement.

New Initiatives Fund
Funding is available for staff or postgraduate researchers who wish to develop new activities that will be of benefit to postgraduate or postdoctoral researchers in developing transferable skills.
