The University runs a number of  courses designed to help you get the most out of your PhD or postdoc and prepare you for what comes next, whether you wish to remain in academia or move outside.

Researchers at Glasgow are from a wide variety of backgrounds and you will already have strengths or skills in a number of areas. Before you sign up to any of our courses we would encourage you to use our Personal Development Planning (PDP) tools to assess where your strengths lie and areas that you would like to develop.

Effective researcher
An interactive two day course for researchers from all subjects who are 6-18 months into their PhD. Work on fun and practical activities to develop skills vital to your research.

Making research connections
A one day workshop to develop your communication skills and give you experience of research collaborations and presenting in a conference environment.

Glasgow local GRADschool
An intensive four day course with a focus on career development, aimed at 2nd or 3rd year PhD researchers.

Enterprise programme
Learn vital business skills, get tips from local entrepreneurs and first-hand experience on real projects.
