Getting in Touch with Students
We use a number of means of getting in touch with students. All course notices relating to School of Law courses are posted on the appropriate noticeboards in the Stair Building. These are situated as follows:
- Level One - ground floor, No. 8 entrance
- Level Two - first floor, No. 8 entrance
- Level Three - first floor, No. 5 entrance
- Honours - first floor No. 5 entrance
- Urgent notices - foot of the stairs, No. 8 entrance.
You should ensure that you consult these boards regularly.
In addition, notices may be posted electronically in one of the Moodle Forums, either in one of the general law school forums, or in one of the forums on the individual Moodle course pages. Moodle will ordinarily email new postings to you, but this feature may be switched off: it's best to check. Course-co-ordinators may also email information to you, so it is important that you check your email regularly. If you intend to use another email account instead of your university email account, you must make sure that you arrange for messages to be forwarded.
Examination dates, class examination/coursework results and other notices concerned with examinations and assessment appear on the Examination Board in the basement (opposite the Workshop entrance). In order to preserve anonymity, results are posted by matriculation number alone.
N.B. the School of Law only publishes grades for specific instruments of assessment. The final results of courses (however assessed) are not posted in the Stair Building. The posting of these results is undertaken by the Registry.
Assessable work which is returned to you is returned via your 'personal file'. These are situated as follows:
- First year - ground floor, No. 5 entrance
- Second year - ground floor, No. 5 entrance
- Third year - basement, No. 8 entrance
- Fourth year - basement, No. 8 entrance
Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998, you can opt out of having your results published on the Examinations noticeboard and/or your work returned via your personal file. The form to allow you to do this is available from the Undergraduate Office.
