Ms Connell joined the section in October 2005 as a University Teacher in Public Health and the co-ordinator for the Masters degree in Public Health.

She originally trained as a nurse midwife and then went on to work as a public health nurse with various non-governmental organisations in Africa, Asia and Former Soviet Union. During this time she also studied for the MPH at Leeds University. She contributes to the teaching programme in the Population Health and the International Health courses. She has a particular interest in the public health impact of domestic abuse and the influence of globalisation on overall public health.
