Research Clusters
The research interests of staff in the School of Historical Studies tend to cluster around a number of broad areas. Individuals in these 'research clusters' collaborate to advance their mutual interests, for example by organising seminar series or working together in teaching, research or postgraduate supervision. These clusters do not define or restrict the research areas of the School, but indicate fields in which the School has particular strengths. Some staff belong to several clusters and many of the clusters have links to staff in other departments.
- Medieval European history
- Medieval Scotland, Ireland and the British Isles
- Cultures, beliefs and ideas in early modern Scotland and its wider contexts
- American history and culture
- History of medicine
- Social and gender history
- The international history of modern business and banking
- War studies
